Make way for a great day.

A big and comforting smile marks the onset of a day at The Bumble Bee Montessori. It ensures that our little bees arrive in their secure hive, and it gives parents peace of mind that their precious children are in a thoughtful and safe environment.

After complying with the COVID-19 regulations, children settle for sensorial exploration through our Montessori shelves. The highly stimulating sensory materials serve as tools that are designed for learning outcomes such as motor control, eye-hand coordination, independence, concentration, and responsibility. These easily accessible shelves are organised in such a manner that they provide children with opportunities to exercise elective or directed choices. Children choose from the materials and engage with them by exploring, examining, and making observations.

The goals are to promote individual work, provide each child with the freedom to work at their own pace, and provide sensorial stimulation through touch, sight, sound, and movement of objects. The learners thereby engage in self-directed study in a peaceful and enriching environment, and robust learning takes place in a rhythmic form. Trained adults role-model the Montessori techniques and supplement them with hands-on learning. Practical life, sensory, mathematical, language, and cultural studies are the areas of learning covered by the apparatus of Montessori shelves.

The day progresses into group activities that are designed with key learning principles. Music and movement activities are integrated into this segment. These engagements help to develop teamwork and cooperative skills. Older students who are looked upon as role models teach by example during group activities. They help their younger schoolmates with guidance and support.

Non-judgmental conversations are an inevitable part of our day. Each day, children sit together in circle time to share their colourful thoughts, imaginations, and personal ikes and dislikes. They grasp words used by their teacher and their classmates. Free-spirited talks enable optimistic thought processes and serve as a great tool for developing communication skills. The use of polite greetings is encouraged to cultivate graceful and courteous behaviour. Teachers use this time to comprehend children’s developmental needs. Organised practices of freshening and cleaning up are undertaken to promote hygiene. Independent eating habits are encouraged during food breaks.

Our sprawling and aptly designed outdoor spaces compel our enthusiastic learners to dive into the natural environment. Natural sunlight, fresh air, and lively sounds make way for real-world associations. For physical development, children perform multiple activities like crawling, jumping, hopping, walking, running, leaping, kicking a ball, rolling, and somersaults.

The prudent outdoor setup provides ample opportunities for these physical activities that promote gross and fine motor skills, balance, eye-hand coordination, strengthened muscles, and agility. Gymnastic activities are integrated to improve flexibility.

Our busy bees also keep buzzing in the learning hives of literacy, numeracy, logic, science, and culture. Activities complementing these domains are spread across the day. Rhymes and stories are an intrinsic part of routine. The development of language, speech, and vocabulary, spatial awareness, clarity of mathematical concepts, and independent practices are a few of the goals achieved thus far.

The development of nurturing skills through our school garden is a daily practice. Children are taught to sow seeds and observe them germinate and grow into plants. They learn the water requirements of different plants and are watchful while watering them daily. Under careful guidance, children are also trained to prune the plants. They collect dry and withered leaves to follow composting practices. We care for the environment and imbibe the same in our young citizens.

Mindfulness is practiced through our yoga and meditation routines. This way, the children transition into rest mode and slow down before leaving the school premises. Children wave happy goodbyes as we wait for them to return the next day.

By interweaving education, knowledge, creativity, sports, culture, and values, we conclude each fruitful day with a sense of accomplishment.
